Houston Real Estate Market

BAYOU CITY HOME PRICES STRONG
HOUSTON (Houston Chronicle) – Home prices increased 5.4 percent last year, continuing the area’s healthy growth streak.
Sales of pre-owned single-family homes, townhomes, condominiums and some new properties exceeded last year’s sales by about 11 percent. Almost 87,500 properties sold through the Multiple Listing Service, according to the Houston Association of Realtors.
Sales for high-end homes (those costing between $800,000 and $1.2 million) increased by 25 percent.
The local median sales price for single-family homes was more than $149,500. The national median in November was $217,200.
About 50,000 new homes were built and sold last year, according to Metrostudy, a Houston-based consulting firm.
