 SALE OF THE WOODLANDS' PUBLIC GOLF COURSES & THE WOODLANDS COUNTRY CLUB TO SEQUOIA/CANONGATE FINALIZED - The sale of The Woodlands' two public golf courses and The Woodlands Country Club to Sequoia/Canongate Golf LLC was finalized on May 31, 2007, according to Tim Welbes and Alex Sutton , co-presidents of The Woodlands Development Company .
The announcement that a contract for sale had been signed occurred on April 20, 2007 and after due diligence, the sale was closed and funded as planned. As of midnight on May 31, all employees of The Woodlands Country Club became employees of Sequoia/Canongate. Joe Guerra, principal of Sequoia/Canongate, said that his Company is honored and very excited to have the opportunity to build upon the great legacy of The Woodlands Country Club and the public golf courses, and looks forward to taking The Club to the next level. "The owners of Sequoia/Canongate have owned and operated private clubs for more than two decades," said Welbes and Sutton. "We believe that Sequoia/Canongate will bring The Woodlands Country Club to a higher level of membership satisfaction because they are experts in the field. Operating private clubs is all they do."  THE FAZIO CLUBHOUSE NEARING COMPLETION IN CARLTON WOODS CREEKSIDE - The Fazio Clubhouse is nearing completion in the gated community of Carlton Woods Creekside , a 500-acre expansion to Carlton Woods , located south of Spring Creek in Harris County in The Woodlands' newest Village of Creekside Park . A fall 2007 completion date is expected for the clubhouse, coinciding with the Grand Opening of the Village of Creekside Park, when a Showcase of Homes event will take place in Carlton Woods Creekside and the first production home neighborhood of Wilde Creek in the village.
The 19,500-square-foot Fazio Clubhouse at The Club at Carlton Woods , a private country club in The Woodlands, is being designed as a golf village with a Tuscan theme. The clubhouse bell tower serves as the entry focal point to the Village Square and to the finishing hole of the Tom Fazio Championship golf course. The Fazio course has been ranked the "Best New Private Course in Texas" and "#3 Best New Private Course in the U.S." in Golf Digest's current annual rankings. A Grille and Bar with vast stone fireplace will overlook the 18 th green of the Fazio golf course, with two galleries linking to the Pro Shop. Elegantly appointed men's and women's locker rooms, a fitness area, two massage rooms and a golf car facility, designed as a multi-function space for club events, will add to the experience. When completed, Reaching Pines will offer transitional housing to women and children survivors of domestic violence. Reaching Pines will be the first of its kind in Montgomery County situated on a seven-acre site in Conroe. M.W.
