THE WOODLANDS RECOGNIZED FOR MARKETING WITH LOCAL & STATE AWARDS - The Woodlands was recently recognized for its marketing efforts, receiving local and state marketing awards including "Community of the Year" from the Greater Houston Builder's Association (GHBA). The GHBA presented four PRISM (Professional Results in Sales and Marketing) developer category awards to executives of The Woodlands Development Company (TWDC) before more than 1,000 industry leaders at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts in Houston on April 28, 2007. TWDC was also recognized as a "Founding Sponsor" by GHBA. In addition to the "Community of the Year" PRISM award for the best overall marketing and presentation of a large (over 2,500 developed acres), master-planned community, TWDC also received the "Humanitarian of the Year" award. This award recognizes the company's contributions through its Good Neighbors Community Partnership Program and involvement in community events. (TWG) awarded three scholarships at $1000 each to graduating seniors from South Montgomery County in its annual Earth Day scholarship competition. According to scholarship coordinator and TWG Secretary Debra Wymore , "These applicants demonstrated an outstanding commitment to preserving our natural environment through volunteering in their extra curricular activities." Winners included Barrett Monet Heikkila Valdes , a graduating senior at The Woodlands High School , and the first G.R.E.E.N. WSO CLOSES ITS 14 th SEASON & TUNES UP FOR 15 TH ANNIVERSARY - The Woodlands Symphony Orchestra (WSO) and The Woodlands Symphony Chorus closed its 14 th season with a rousing performance of "A Night at the Opera" in front of an approximate audience of 650 people, presented April 28, 2007 at the Nancy Bock Center for the Performing Arts at McCullough Junior High School . Three guest soloists including soprano Jana Ellsworth , pictured with Maestro Dagang Chen , joined the orchestra and chorus in exhilarating performances of some of opera's greatest hits.
